About Us

Rick and Kelly’s abstract paintings represent the world they see and the emotions they feel on a daily basis. They are both inspired by modern art and architecture. They like to use shapes and textures in unexpected ways to create smart, bold statement pieces. Most importantly, their love of color makes the artwork pop and are definitely a focal point in any room setting. Their paintings reflect the memories and experiences they have had in their lives and they are blessed to paint together every day.

Rick VanHook is a lifelong Searcy, Arkansas resident. He is an accomplished self taught abstract artist and recognized for his dynamic and captivating works. He has been passionate about art all his life and has honed his skills to develop a signature style. His works are characterized by bold colors, patterns and striking textures. While primarily working in acrylics and other mediums, unique tools and materials are used to create dimensional pieces that are both conceptually rich and make the perfect focal point in any room. Rick retired in 2015 to pursue art full time. He has had solo shows at Arkansas State University and Harding University and participated in many juried festivals including Crystal Bridges Museum Art Festival, The Other Art Show Dallas, Art on the Border Fort Smith and Deep Ellum Community Arts Fair.

Kelly VanHook was born in Texas and moved to Searcy in 1981. As the daughter of a master quilter and growing up around the arts, it wasn’t until 2005 that she picked up a paintbrush and has never looked back. The architectural influence is ironic since she has been an Executive Broker with Dalrymple Real Estate since 2002 and loves mid-century modern design.

Rick and Kelly were married in 1998 and love that they can travel for shows around the state of Arkansas, as well as surrounding states, meeting new people and sharing their love of art with others.
